How can you truly master communication? The core of communication is not technique, but first stabilizing yourself, then connecting with others. Many conflicts arise because we get swept up by the other person’s rejection and emotions, getting stuck in proving ourselves and debating right versus wrong, while forgetting the real purpose of communication. Therefore, the first step in high-quality communication is to recognize yourself, stay aware, and not be controlled by your emotions—so you can calmly and rationally see the other person. The second step is to create a sense of safety, reduce judgment and confrontation, and replace competing against each other with “let’s work together to solve the problem.” Real effective communication is not about winning an argument, but about building a cooperative relationship based on understanding each other’s needs.
