How can you truly be yourself? Many people think being yourself means not caring about what others think and living according to your own preferences, but truly being yourself is not rebellion, and it’s not caprice—it’s a continuous process of peeling away what’s not really you. First, we need to get rid of the labels imposed by the outside world and stop gaining worth by proving ourselves. Then, filter out society’s standards and other people’s expectations, and find the rhythm that belongs to you. Finally, accept all of yourself, including your strengths, flaws, contradictions, and imperfections. A sign of personal maturity isn’t becoming more like what others expect, but growing more and more certain about who you are—knowing why you live—and steadfastly walking your own path in a complex world. Real freedom isn’t having endless choices; it’s no longer being defined by the outside world and returning to your rightful place.
