Ethereum Foundation’s AI Agents uncover a critical vulnerability

The Ethereum Foundation deployed a group of AI Agents to scan its core code, and the result really found a vulnerability that can instantly crash any node—CVE-2026-34219, with a CVSS score of 8.2 (high severity). An attacker only needs to send a carefully crafted message to knock out a validating node, and it can be repeated indefinitely.
The most brutal part isn’t that they found a bug, but the process: one AI Agent churned out 1,000 candidate vulnerabilities at once, and 86% of the top recommendations passed expert review. But the Foundation itself says the real bottleneck isn’t finding bugs, but filtering real issues out of the AI’s “hallucinations.”
In the future, network security won’t be about humans finding bugs—it will be AI finding bugs and humans verifying bugs. Ethereum is already using AI to review protocol-layer code—what about your project?
