ME News report: On April 25 (UTC+8), citing data from the French National Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office (Pnaco) as reported by Le Monde, France has seen a total of 135 cryptocurrency kidnapping-and-ransom cases from 2023 to date, with cases showing explosive growth: 18 in 2024, 67 in 2025, and 47 as of April 2026. Currently, 12 key cases are under investigation, and 88 people have been formally indicted (including 10+ minors), while 75 people are already in custody. Prosecutor Vanessa Perré confirmed that behind the cases there is a cross-regional organized criminal network, whose members have repeatedly carried out linked crimes. Pnaco is working in tandem with the Ministry of the Interior to strengthen nationwide criminal enforcement and protective prevention mechanisms. (Source: PANews)
