AIMPACT news: On April 25 (UTC+8), OpenAI CEO Sam Altman apologized to the Tumble Ridge community in Canada for failing to notify the police about a banned account related to Jesse Van Rootselaar. According to police, Jesse Van Rootselaar killed eight people at a school in February this year and then died by suicide. OpenAI previously said the company had banned Van Rootselaar’s account last year for policy violations, but the matter did not meet the company’s internal standards for reporting to law enforcement. Sam Altman said he had spoken with the mayor of Tumble Ridge and the premier of British Columbia about this tragedy, and described the local community’s pain as “unimaginable.” (Source: BlockBeats)
