Wu Shuo learned that, according to analysis by Specter, the long-established Layer-1 blockchain Hedera Network is suspected to have been attacked. More than $4 million in assets has already been bridged via LayerZero to the Ethereum network. After completing the cross-chain transfer, the attacker is converting the stolen WBTC into ETH. Users are advised to closely monitor the related risks.

The attacker also knows how to swap positions from WBTC to ETH—pretty good at playing the game.

Even an old blockchain has failed too—cross-chain bridges have turned into a cash machine, you could say.

Suggestion? The suggestion is: don’t put your money in any bridge.
