OpenAI Apologizes for Not Promptly Reporting Terrorists to the Police, Sam Altman

AIMPACT message, April 25 (UTC+8): OpenAI CEO Sam Altman apologized to the Tamburleigh community in Canada for failing to report to police banned accounts related to Jesse Van Rootselaar. According to police, Jesse Van Rootselaar killed 8 people at a school in February this year and then died by suicide. OpenAI previously said the company banned Van Rootselaar’s account last year for violating its policies, but the issue did not meet the internal standards for reporting to law enforcement. Sam Altman said he had spoken with the mayor of Tamburleigh and the premier of British Columbia about the tragedy, describing the community’s pain as “incomprehensible.” (Source: BlockBeats)
