ME News: On April 25 (UTC+8), citing data from the French Office of Organized Crime Prosecution (Pnaco) via Le Monde, France has recorded a total of 135 cryptocurrency kidnapping extortion cases since 2023 up to now. The cases have shown explosive growth: 18 in 2024, 67 in 2025, and 47 as of April in 2026. Currently, 12 key cases are under investigation, and 88 people have been formally indicted (including 10+ minors); 75 people are already in custody. Prosecutor Vanessa Perray confirmed that behind the cases there is a cross-regional organized criminal network, whose members have repeatedly carried out chain-linked offenses. Pnaco is coordinating with the Ministry of the Interior to strengthen nationwide criminal crackdown and prevention protection mechanisms. (Source: PANews)
