AIMPACT message, on April 25 (UTC+8), OpenAI CEO Sam Altman apologized to the Tumbler Ridge community in Canada for failing to report to the police the banned account(s) related to Jesse Van Rootselaar. According to police, Jesse Van Rootselaar killed eight people at a school in February this year, and then died by suicide. OpenAI previously said the company banned Van Rootselaar’s account last year due to policy violations, but the issue did not meet the company’s internal standards for reporting to law enforcement. Sam Altman said he had spoken with the mayor of Tumbler Ridge and the Premier of British Columbia about the tragedy, describing the community’s anguish as “incomprehensible.” (Source: BlockBeats)
