ME News, July 10 (UTC+8): Despite Iran’s repeated requests that vessels reroute to use the northern sea route closer to Iran’s coastline, the US Navy continues to recommend that commercial ships use the southern route through the Strait of Hormuz. On the same day, the Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC), based in Bahrain, issued a notice stating that the security threat level in the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters remains at a serious level, but emphasized that the southern route has been expanded and remains open to all vessels. The notice advises ships to coordinate with joint naval forces when transiting the Strait of Hormuz, but also points out that this is not a mandatory requirement, and that ships can pass through the southern route without coordination. It is claimed that since July 7, no large vessels with positioning systems turned on have been found transiting via the southern route near the coast of Oman. As of July 10, no commercial ships have publicly indicated any intention to pass through the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz. (CCTV News) (Source: ODAILY)
