《Hong Kong Stocks》 Hang Seng Index closed up 144 points for the day; CK Hutchison rose more than 7%; Zhipu and Tianshu Zhixin fell by about 19%

Overnight (9th) the three major US stock indexes closed higher, with chip stocks continuing to rebound, lifting the Nasdaq by more than 1%. This morning (10th) the Hang Seng Index opened up by 183 points and its gains widened, at one point rising by more than 400 points. Later, toward the close the rally narrowed significantly, and the index finished the day at 24,175.12 points, up 144 points or 0.6%. Total turnover for the full day was 339.59B yuan. The Hang Seng Tech Index closed at 4,721 points, down 9 points or 0.21%. The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index closed at 8,039 points, up 41.9 points or 0.52%.

Large-cap tech and internet shares had mixed performances. Xiaomi-W (01810.HK) +0.840 (+3.360%): short selling $887 million; ratio 24.902%, strong performance. It closed at 25.84 yuan, up 3.36% for the day. Alibaba-W (09988.HK) +2.200 (+2.037%): short selling $1.46B; ratio 24.272%, up 2.04%. Tencent (00700.HK) -9.400 (-2.002%): short selling $1.24B; ratio 14.323%. And NetEase (09999.HK) -5.800 (-2.728%): short selling $340 million; ratio 35.948%, down more than 2%.

In recent days, multiple stocks were affected by lock-up expiries with share placements. MINIMAX-W (00100.HK) -28.800 (-9.684%): short selling $357 million; ratio 15.074%. The company raised more than 16 billion yuan via a placement and the issuance of zero-coupon secured convertible bonds; the share price fell 9.68% for the day. ZhiPu (02513.HK) -392.000 (-19.291%): short selling $483 million; ratio 6.251%, plunging 19.29%. The company offered a placement at a 13% discount, net raising more than 31.37 billion yuan. TianShu ZhiNeng (09903.HK) -110.800 (-18.685%): short selling $393 million; ratio 16.927%. The placement at a 15% discount net raised more than 7 billion yuan, and the share price tumbled 18.68%. Zhaoyi Innovation (03986.HK) -198.000 (-21.053%): short selling $128 million; ratio 2.958%. A lock-up of cornerstone investor shares expired on July 13, and the share price also dropped 21.05%.

Among blue chips, CATL (03750.HK) -50.500 (-7.922%): short selling $263 million; ratio 31.671%. The stock was under pressure, closing down nearly 8%, the worst-performing blue chip of the day. Lenovo Group (00992.HK) +0.440 (+1.830%): short selling $761 million; ratio 28.183%, up 1.83%. CK Hutchison (00001.HK) +4.900 (+7.527%): short selling $141 million; ratio 32.356%, the best performer, closing up 7.53%. In news, UBS raised its target price on CK Hutchison by 19% to 101 yuan, saying that if CK Hutchison does not further sell assets, it would support the distribution of higher dividends.

Chip stocks fell against the trend. SMIC (00981.HK) -3.900 (-4.668%): short selling $1.43 billion; ratio 18.993%, closing down 4.67%. Hua Hong Grace (01347.HK) -16.300 (-8.077%): short selling $1.28B; ratio 19.127%, down 8.08%. Ranken Technology (06809.HK) -33.400 (-8.702%): short selling $118 million; ratio 7.869%, also down 8.7%. Southern 2x long Micron (07709.HK) -6.600 (-6.875%): short selling $2.88B; ratio 48.249%, down 6.87%. Southern 2x long Samsung (07747.HK) -1.250 (-1.108%): short selling $186 million; ratio 22.398%, down 1.11%.

Pharmaceutical stocks were stronger. WuXi AppTec (02359.HK) +6.100 (+4.094%): short selling $238 million; ratio 40.125%, closing up 4.09%. China Biopharmaceutical (01177.HK) +0.190 (+3.800%): short selling $133 million; ratio 24.787%. And CSPC Pharmaceutical (01093.HK) +0.270 (+3.444%): short selling $275 million; ratio 31.226%, up more than 3%.

Automobile stocks rose. Geely Auto (00175.HK) +0.510 (+2.813%): short selling $72.1 million; ratio 20.586%. And BYD (01211.HK) +2.250 (+2.722%): short selling $184 million; ratio 23.139%, up more than 2%.
