ME News, April 25 (UTC+8): Citing data from the Office of the National Prosecutor for Organized Crime (Pnaco) in France, as reported by Le Monde, France has recorded a cumulative 135 cryptocurrency kidnapping and extortion cases from 2023 to date, with cases showing explosive growth: 18 cases in 2024, 67 in 2025, and 47 cases as of April 2026. Currently, 12 key cases are under way, and 88 people have been formally indicted (including 10+ juveniles), while 75 people are already in custody. Prosecutor Vanessa Pére confirmed that the cases are backed by a cross-regional organized criminal network, whose members have repeatedly carried out chained attacks. Pnaco is coordinating with the Ministry of the Interior to strengthen nationwide criminal enforcement and protective prevention mechanisms. (Source: PANews)
