ME News message: On April 25 (UTC+8), U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed at a congressional hearing that, so far, only one applicant has been approved for the Trump administration’s “Gold Card” visa program. As an alternative to the traditional EB-5 immigrant investor program, the initiative requires foreign nationals to pay at least $1 million in order to obtain legal U.S. residency, work eligibility, and ultimately a path to citizenship. Notably, Lutnick had previously publicly claimed that the Gold Card program has sold slots worth $1.3 billion and is expected to generate $1 trillion in revenue in the future to help ease the U.S. fiscal deficit. But at this hearing, he acknowledged that only one person has been formally approved at present, with hundreds of other applicants still in the review process. (Source: PANews)
