ME News, July 9 (UTC+8): Nagi Hamiyeh, President of Global Investments at Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund Temasek, said that crypto investments are “still not under consideration,” citing uncertainty in industry regulation. In 2022, Temasek recorded an impairment loss of $275 million due to the collapse of the FTX crypto exchange, which drew widespread criticism. Hamiyeh said the firm is currently focused on blockchain and its infrastructure, based on the technology’s practical impact on the real economy. Regarding AI investments, Hamiyeh is more inclined toward AI applications and building business ecosystems rather than cutting-edge models, with a long-term bet on automation, robotics, and industrial process optimization—aiming to increase the share of its AI investment portfolio from 6% to 15% by 2031.
