It is often said that strategy is about deciding what to do and what not to do when resources are limited. Trade-offs mean that once you decide what to do, you must follow that path to achieve your goals. Once you decide what not to do, you must resolutely resist the temptation of small, immediate gains and not even touch them. Firm trade-offs are strategy.
