The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that crude oil inventories increased by 3M barrels last week, compared with market expectations for a decrease of 2.37M barrels.

During the period, gasoline inventories fell by 1.9M barrels, versus market expectations for a decrease of 1.62M barrels; distillate inventories dropped by 4.98 million barrels, compared with market expectations for an increase of 568k barrels.

Last week, crude oil imports rose by 568k barrels per day, and refinery capacity utilization fell by 0.8 percentage points.
