Gate posted on X in response to rumors that “Gate was hacked for 1.7 million,” saying the incident is not a systemic risk or a website security issue, and that customer assets and account security across the entire platform are safe. Gate disclosed that the involved user used a new device on July 4 to initiate requests to reset their phone and email, and completed liveness face verification, SMS, and verification of the original email verification code. On July 5, the user applied to unbind the phone; after customer service completed liveness face verification and verified the historical transaction records, it carried out the unbinding. On July 6, the user reset Google verification, the login password, and the fund password. On July 7, the user logged into the account through an old device, and after completing liveness face, Google verification, and fund password verification, they made 5 withdrawals to a new address, totaling approximately 49.96 ETH, 746,475 HSK, and 1,565,982 USDT.
