Are Gate Contract Points Worth Your Attention? A Complete Breakdown of Profit Differences Among Different Traders
As of July 7, 2026, according to Gate market data, Bitcoin is quoted at $64,217.3, up 0.85% in the past 24 hours and down 10.73% in the past 30 days; Ethereum is quoted at $1,805.08, up 0.86% in the past 24 hours and down 20.92% in the past 30 days; GT is quoted at $6.81, up 0.89% in the past 24 hours and down 2.68% in the past 30 days. The market is overall in a neutral sentiment range, with ongoing price fluctuations.
Amid the continuous volatility in the derivatives market, traders are not only focusing on the price itself but also on whether the platform can provide quantifiable positive feedback for long-term participation. Since its launch in October 2025, the Gate Futures Points system has distributed airdrop rewards worth approximately 3.7 million USDT to over 264k users, with the highest cumulative single-account reward from point exchanges exceeding 2,600 USDT.
Is the Futures Points system worth paying attention to? How much difference exists in point earnings between users with different trading strategies? Let's analyze from three dimensions: the point mechanism, acquisition paths, and usage scenarios.
The Essential Positioning of Futures Points
To understand Gate Futures Points, it's first necessary to clarify their positioning. Futures Points are not cryptocurrencies; they cannot be withdrawn, transferred, or traded. They are a set of activity assessment indicators generated based on user contract trading behavior data on the Gate platform, used to determine each user's eligibility for airdrop rewards and rights redemption permissions. Points themselves have no financial attributes; their value is not reflected in the account balance figures but in whether users can convert them into usable rights within the validity period.
Futures Points convert users' trading activity, asset size, and ecosystem participation into quantifiable vouchers of rights, rather than being a simple substitute for trading fee rebates. Changes in points directly reflect changes in user behavior—an increase in points indicates recent increased participation, while a decrease suggests recent reduced activity. This system was officially launched on October 14, 2025, bringing a brand-new growth and incentive system for futures traders.
Three Independent Paths to Earn Points
Gate Futures Points come from three independent, overlapping channels: futures trading, asset balance, and inviting friends. Points from the three channels are automatically credited to the total account after daily settlement, with no manual claiming required.
Futures Trading Points
This is the most efficient channel for point accumulation. The system issues points based on the user's effective futures trading volume for the day, including both opening and closing volumes. The rule uses a power multiplier model: for every 400 USDT of effective futures trading volume, you get 1 point; 800 USDT yields 2 points; 1,600 USDT yields 3 points. For each doubling of trading volume, the point increases by 1, with no upper limit.
This model has a noteworthy structural feature: marginal point density gradually decreases as trading volume increases. Under the same total trading volume, users who spread it across multiple trading days earn more total points than those who concentrate it in a single day. Although the power multiplier model does not set a hard cap on trading frequency, its structure makes the unit point cost for high-frequency traders significantly lower than that for low-frequency, large-volume traders.
Starting February 9, 2026, trading volume from Gate TradFi products (covering gold, forex, stock indices, and stock CFDs) has been officially included in the point calculation system. TradFi trading volume is converted to effective futures trading volume at a 20% ratio. This means that even during periods without crypto futures trading, users can continue accumulating points through TradFi trading.
Note that trades made via API channels, stablecoin trading pairs, copy trading, and bot trading are not counted.
Asset Balance Points
Asset balance points provide a stable earning path that does not depend on trading frequency. The system takes a daily snapshot of USDT and BTC asset balances in the futures account (under unified account mode, including USDT and BTC balances in the spot account), and also includes USDx balances in the TradFi account, all valued in USD.
Specific rules are as follows:
Balance points are completely independent of trading direction. Even without executing any trades, as long as the account assets remain in the target range, points will be automatically credited daily. The snapshot time is 08:00 (UTC+8) daily, and users can reasonably adjust their account balances before this time.
Invitation Points
For each successful invitation of a new user to participate in the event, you earn 1 point, with a maximum of 3 points per day. A valid invitation is defined as the invited user accumulating at least 2 points, meaning they have generated real, system-recognized effective participation.
The three channels are calculated independently and do not conflict. Users can choose to focus on trading, use holdings as a stabilizer, and supplement with invitations, combining strategies that suit their own style for point accumulation.
15-Day Rolling Window and Expiration Mechanism
The core design of the Gate Futures Points system is the 15-day rolling window mechanism. Total points represent the cumulative sum of daily points (balance points, trading volume points, invitation points) over the past 15 days, minus any consumed portion. Points not used within 15 days will automatically expire and cannot be recovered.
The specific calculation formula is:
Points Balance = Trading Volume Points from the past 15 days + Balance Points from the past 15 days + Invitation Points from the past 15 days – Points Consumed in the past 15 days
This rolling mechanism ensures points always reflect recent activity status rather than being a permanent lock on historical behavior. Each user's contribution status is dynamically refreshed, incentivizing traders to maintain consistent participation rather than a one-time sprint.
The system follows a "first-in, first-out" consumption principle. When a user initiates a point redemption, the system prioritizes deducting the earliest earned batch that is closest to expiration. This means the total amount displayed on the point page is not all in the same valid state; what truly matters is the portion about to expire.
The system does not proactively send notifications when points are about to expire. It is recommended to develop a weekly monitoring habit, regularly check the expiration reminder labels on the point page, and complete redemptions before points expire.
Point data is updated by 12:00 Beijing time each day for the previous day's values.
Point Usage Scenarios and Redemption Mechanism
The most direct outlet for Gate Futures Points is airdrop rewards. Users are not passively waiting for unknown allocations; instead, they can actively consume points to redeem rights such as position trial coupons. This consumptive redemption creates clear airdrop expectations, shifting motivation from vague "future rewards" to trackable "near-term goals."
Position Trial Coupon Redemption
According to the current platform campaign, consuming 20 points and meeting a minimum eligibility threshold of 40 points allows users to claim a position trial coupon worth 100 USDT. Taking Gate Futures Points Lucky Draw Phase 20 as an example:
Direct Token and Stablecoin Exchange
Users can directly exchange points for GT or GUSD. Using recent campaigns as examples, consuming 15 points can exchange for 3 GT, or consuming points can exchange for 25 GUSD. The exchanged assets can be freely withdrawn, representing the most direct path to realize point value.
Scarce Project Token Exchange
This is the most imaginative use case for points. In past campaigns, some users used 130 points to exchange for 10,000 PUMP, or 120 points to exchange for 460 DEEP. The historical profit record of over 2,600 USDT for a single account all came from such exchanges, not from direct stablecoin exchanges. This indicates that the linkage between the point system and primary market issuance is deepening—users accumulate points through daily trading and then use points to participate in early distribution of new assets.
Fee Deduction
Users can enable the point fee deduction function in their account's "Fee Settings." For high-frequency traders, long-term accumulated points can continuously offset trading friction.
Differences in Point Earnings Across Different Traders
There are significant differences in earnings within the Gate Futures Points system among different types of traders, mainly determined by their trading frequency, position size, and social participation.
High-Frequency Traders
High-frequency traders are the main beneficiaries of futures trading points. Since trading points have no acquisition limit, high-frequency traders can accumulate a large number of points through continuous trading activity. For example, with a daily trading volume of 40,000 USDT, they can earn 100 points the next day; if reaching 400,000 USDT, they can earn 1,000 points.
However, the structural feature of the power multiplier model means marginal point density gradually decreases as trading volume increases. High-frequency traders can earn more total points if they spread their trading volume across multiple trading days rather than concentrating it in a single day. High-frequency traders can also enable the point fee deduction function to continuously offset trading friction.
Long-Term Holders
Long-term holders are the main beneficiaries of asset balance points. These users can earn points continuously without high-frequency trading. As long as they hold USDT or BTC in their futures account, with asset value between $10,000 and $100,000, they earn 3 points daily; if asset value exceeds $100,000, they earn 4 points daily.
For long-term holders, balance points provide a stable earning path independent of trading frequency. Even during periods of high market volatility and fewer trading opportunities, holding behavior itself continues to generate point value.
Light Traders
For light traders with low trading frequency and small position sizes, point accumulation speed is relatively limited. If the account balance is below $100, no balance points can be earned; if daily trading volume is below 400 USDT, no trading points can be earned.
Light traders can supplement their point sources by inviting new users to participate in events, earning 1 point for each successful invitation, up to 3 points per day. Additionally, trading Gate TradFi products can be converted to effective futures trading volume at a 20% ratio, providing an extra point accumulation channel for light traders.
Design Logic and Long-Term Value of the Point System
The design logic of the Gate Futures Points system can be understood from three levels.
Behavior Quantification Level: Points convert users' asset size, trading frequency, and community contributions into accumulable and consumable point values. They do not predict prices but can reduce trading costs and provide asymmetric asset acquisition channels.
Retention-Driven Level: The 15-day rolling window is the key to retention design. Points continuously expire and roll over, prompting users to maintain trading rhythm and keep account assets to avoid a decline in total points. Consuming points to redeem trial coupons "resets" the points, triggering a new round of accumulation. The combination of both forms a self-driven closed loop of "trading → point accumulation → airdrop redemption → continued trading."
Ecosystem Building Level: When a large number of users participate continuously, the platform's futures market gains deeper liquidity and more realistic trading depth. The linkage between points and airdrops aligns user behavior with the platform's ecosystem interests—users gain rewards through contributions, and the platform gains activity through rewards. Invitation points turn users into ecosystem propagation nodes, with the reward mechanism transforming growth from a platform-driven push to user-driven expansion.
Conclusion
Since its launch in October 2025, the Gate Futures Points system has been running for over 100 phases, with 264k participating users. It has distributed approximately 3.7 million USDT worth of airdrop rewards, with the highest single-account cumulative earnings exceeding 2,600 USDT. The value of this system lies not in the numerical size of the points themselves but in whether they can be converted into usable rights within the validity period.
For different traders, the difference in futures points earnings is mainly determined by trading frequency, position size, and social participation. High-frequency traders have a significant advantage in accumulating trading points, long-term holders gain stable earnings through balance points, and light traders can supplement point sources through the invitation mechanism and TradFi product trading. Regardless of the strategy adopted, understanding the 15-day rolling window mechanism and the "first-in, first-out" consumption principle, along with establishing habits of regular checking and timely redemption, are prerequisites for maximizing point utility.
Is the Futures Points system worth paying attention to? For users looking to continuously gain additional value from futures trading, the answer is yes—it does not promise profits, but it provides a transparent path to convert daily trading behavior into quantifiable rights.
