AIMPACT News, April 24 (UTC+8), Meta Platforms has reached a multi-year cooperation agreement worth tens of billions of dollars with Amazon.com. Meta will use tens of millions of AWS Graviton chip cores to support AI agents and other AI projects. The agreement spans 3 to 5 years, with most chips located in the United States. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Meta is one of AWS's top five Graviton customers, using its 3-nanometer Graviton5 chips. AWS Vice President and co-founder of chip division Annapurna Labs, Nafea Bshara, said Meta chose Graviton5 due to its cost-performance advantage. This agreement is one of several chip partnerships Meta has formed this year, with others including Nvidia, AMD, and Arm Holdings.

With the rise of AI agents, CPUs are once again becoming a hot commodity. Industry research shows that CPUs and GPUs can collaborate on a variety of AI tasks. Earlier this week, Amazon announced an additional $5 billion investment in Anthropic, which will use tens of millions of AWS Graviton CPU cores. Meta released its first new AI model in over a year, Muse Spark, this week and plans to release more models in the near future.
