ME News, July 5 (UTC+8), TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that the foldable iPhone may repeat the script of the iPhone X, i.e., being released alongside other models, but with later pre-order and official sale dates, and supply tightness may last until the end of 2026.
Based on the stocking volume in the third quarter of 2026, the foldable iPhone is likely similar to the iPhone X in 2017, when the iPhone X was released together with the iPhone 8 / 8 Plus on September 12, but due to insufficient stock, its pre-order and official sale dates were postponed to October 27 and November 3, respectively. Since the foldable iPhone’s third-quarter shipment volume is limited, it may not open for pre-order and official sale until the fourth quarter of 2026.
Kuo said that after communicating with telecom operators, sales channels, and resellers / purchasing agents, he believes that even if the foldable iPhone is priced as high as approximately $2,300 to $2,500, demand enthusiasm will at least continue until the end of 2026. This means the foldable iPhone may sell out quickly after pre-orders begin, with shipping wait times possibly rapidly extending to 4 to 6 weeks or even longer, lasting until December.
He believes that the foldable iPhone’s initial supply scarcity, high visual recognizability, and innovative user experience may push up short-term resale prices, and it is not impossible for resale prices to be 50% to 100% higher than the official price. (Source: ChainCatcher)
