#GateCardPointsSystemLaunched
Gate Card's new Points System is officially live, introducing a tiered cashback and rewards architecture that transforms crypto payments from a niche convenience into a competitive financial product. The system is built around three core pillars: cashback on spending, points redemption, and tier-based growth. Users progress through a T0 to T5 tier system where spending volume determines rewards rate, with cashback reaching up to 8 percent on eligible purchases depending on tier. Points can be redeemed for USDT, BTC, ETH, or GT tokens, giving users flexibility to convert spending rewards into investment capital rather than being locked into a single reward currency. The Gate Card itself is a Visa Platinum product linked to the Gate Pay payment account, with spending limits based on available crypto balances and no manual top-up required because it draws directly from the Gate exchange account.
The economics are worth parsing carefully. At lower tiers, the cashback rate starts at 1 percent for most users, which, after accounting for the 0.9 percent crypto conversion fee on domestic transactions, yields approximately 0.1 percent net. This is below market average for mainstream debit cards. However, at higher tiers, the rate scales to 5 percent and, under the newly launched Points System, up to 8 percent, which exceeds virtually every traditional debit or credit card product available globally. The crossover point where Gate Card becomes economically superior to traditional payment cards occurs at the spending volume that pushes a user into the upper tiers, making it a product that rewards loyal, high-volume users disproportionately. This is by design. Gate is not trying to compete with everyday bank debit cards on a per-transaction basis. It is building a spending flywheel where crypto-native users who already trade, invest, and hold assets on Gate are incentivized to route their everyday purchases through the same platform, increasing total asset velocity within the ecosystem.
The Points System launch coincides with Open USD's consortium announcement, and the timing is strategically aligned. OUSD, governed by Open Standard and backed by 140-plus companies including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, BlackRock, and Coinbase, is designed to become the default stablecoin for business payments and corporate settlement. It will launch on Solana first, with zero-fee minting and redemption, no volume caps, and near-total redistribution of reserve earnings to participating partners. Visa's head of crypto confirmed the integration, and Stripe's leadership has stated that OUSD will be the default stablecoin for Stripe-powered businesses.
For Gate Card, OUSD's emergence is a tailwind rather than a threat. Gate Card currently settles transactions in crypto assets converted at the point of sale. When OUSD goes live later this year, it will provide a stable, yield-bearing settlement layer that eliminates the conversion friction and price volatility that currently complicate crypto card transactions. A user who holds OUSD in their Gate Pay account would be able to spend it directly at any Visa-accepting merchant without conversion to fiat or to another volatile crypto asset, while simultaneously earning yield on the OUSD balance through Open Standard's revenue-sharing model. This dual benefit, spending convenience plus passive yield, is something that no traditional debit or credit card offers, and it is something that only a crypto-native platform embedded in both the stablecoin consortium and the payment card infrastructure can deliver.
The broader competitive landscape reinforces this positioning. Circle's USDC, the current second-largest stablecoin with a $73.4 billion market cap, retains reserve interest as issuer revenue, which means USDC holders earn nothing on their balances. Tether's USDT operates similarly. OUSD redistributes that same interest stream to the businesses and users that hold and route the token. When OUSD becomes available as a Gate Card settlement option, Gate Card users will effectively earn two layers of return: cashback from the Points System tier, and yield from the OUSD reserve redistribution. Combined, a high-tier Gate Card user spending OUSD could capture 8 percent cashback plus approximately 3 to 4 percent annualized yield on their held balance, totaling roughly 11 to 12 percent in effective returns on spending capital, a figure that no traditional financial product approaches.
The Points System's tier structure also creates a behavioral incentive loop that benefits Gate's broader platform. Users who spend more to reach higher tiers are simultaneously increasing their Gate account activity, which feeds trading volume, wealth management deposits, and gStocks adoption. The card is not a standalone product. It is the distribution surface for Gate's entire ecosystem, converting passive crypto holders into active ecosystem participants whose everyday spending generates data, volume, and collateral that deepens their engagement with every other Gate product.
The July 2026 payments landscape is defined by two simultaneous transitions: stablecoin economics shifting from issuer-retained to consortium-shared revenue, and crypto cards shifting from niche conversion products to tiered rewards platforms that outcompete traditional cards at scale. Gate Card's Points System and OUSD's consortium model are each individually significant. Together, they create a payments infrastructure where crypto assets are not just spendable but yield-generative at every point in the transaction chain, from balance holding through purchase settlement through post-transaction rewards. This is the architecture that will define the next generation of digital payments, and Gate is positioned at the intersection of both structural shifts.
@Gate_Square
Gate has officially launched the Gate Card Points System, introducing one of the most competitive crypto card rewards programs available.
The new system features up to 8% cashback, non-expiring reward points, and a tier-based structure that rewards both trading activity and everyday spending.
Tier Structure
Tier| Cashback| Monthly Cap| Single Transaction Cap
T0| 1.00%| 500 Points (5 USDT)| 200 Points
T1| 1.00%| 5,000 Points (50 USDT)| 1,500 Points
T2| 2.00%| 10,000 Points (100 USDT)| 3,000 Points
T3| 3.00%| 15,000 Points (150 USDT)| 5,000 Points
T4| 5.00%| 25,000 Points (250 USDT)| 8,000 Points
T5| 8.00%| 40,000 Points (400 USDT)| 15,000 Points
How Tier Upgrades Work
Users can qualify through either:
• Gate VIP level
OR
• Monthly card spending (USD)
Whichever qualifies for the higher tier is automatically applied.
• T0: VIP 0–4 (no minimum spending)
• T5: VIP 13–14 or $15,000 in monthly card spending
Tier upgrades become effective the following calendar month and remain active for the entire month.
What Makes It Different?
1. Non-Expiring Points
Unlike many traditional reward programs, Gate Card points never expire, allowing users to accumulate rewards indefinitely.
2. Transparent Redemption
• 100 Points = 1 USDT
• Minimum redemption: 50 Points (0.5 USDT)
• Redeemable for USDT and GT, with additional cryptocurrencies planned.
3. Global Acceptance
The Gate Card is a Visa Platinum card accepted across:
• 200+ countries
• Approximately 150 million Visa merchant locations
Users can spend supported cryptocurrencies including BTC, ETH, USDT, and GT while earning cashback through the points system.
Why It Matters
The crypto card market has traditionally faced three major challenges:
• Complicated reward structures
• Expiring reward points
• Low cashback rates
Gate's new Points System addresses all three by offering:
• Up to 8% flat cashback
• No category restrictions
• No rotating rewards
• No expiration on points
Even the T2 tier (2% cashback) matches or exceeds the rewards offered by many traditional flat-rate payment cards while maintaining crypto-native flexibility.
Trading & User Takeaway
The Gate Card Points System is designed to reward long-term engagement rather than one-time promotions.
Its combination of permanent reward points, tier-based incentives, and straightforward redemption creates a loyalty model focused on sustained usage.
What to Watch
