ME News, July 5 (UTC+8), Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy recently said on Fox Business' "Varney & Co." that he would not sell his Bitcoin holdings even if the price dropped to zero. He told host Stuart Varney, "I'm going to hold it forever, even if it goes to zero, I won't sell," and stated that this time he would rather "go down with the ship" than repeat the mistake of selling before a surge. Portnoy admitted to buying Bitcoin near the $100k high and is now underwater by millions of dollars. He confessed that on this Bitcoin matter, he "has never been more wrong," with prices skyrocketing after every sell and dropping after every buy. Notably, Portnoy has a troubled history in the MEME coin space—in February 2025, he launched the GREED token on Pump.fun, buying 35.79% of the supply before dumping it all at once, causing the token to plummet 99% while he profited around $258k; after being criticized, he subsequently launched GREED2 and JAILSTOOL, and admitted in a livestream that he "did think about a rug pull, and might still be thinking about it." He is also involved in the LIBRA token crash backed by Argentine President Javier Milei (buying $4.5 million, later recovering $5 million in compensation) and the earlier SafeMoon lawsuit (settled for $20k).
