AIMPACT News, April 24 (UTC+8) — Meta Platforms has reached a multi-year cooperation agreement worth tens of billions of dollars with Amazon.com. Meta will use tens of millions of AWS Graviton chip cores to support AI agents and other AI projects. The agreement has a term of 3 to 5 years, with most chips located in the United States. Financial terms were not disclosed. Meta is one of AWS’s top five Graviton customers and uses its 3nm chip, the Graviton5. Nafea Bshara, Vice President of AWS and co-founder of the chip division Annapurna Labs, stated that Meta chose Graviton5 for its cost-performance advantage. This agreement is one of several cooperation deals Meta has reached with chip companies this year, including Nvidia, AMD, and Arm Holdings. With the rise of AI agents, CPUs are once again becoming a hot commodity. Industry research shows that CPUs and GPUs can work together to accomplish a variety of AI tasks. Earlier this week, Amazon announced an additional $5 billion investment in Anthropic, which will use tens of millions of AWS Graviton CPU cores. Meta this week released Muse Spark, its first new AI model in over a year, and plans to release more models soon.
