Why do you feel inexplicably moved when you see videos of down-and-out people being helped? Because you know what it feels like to be at rock bottom, with no one to rely on. You once fantasized that someone might appear and give you a hand. But what reality ultimately taught you is: most of the time, no one will come, and no one is obligated to.
