Why can love be divided into two parts? One part is emotional love: liking, infatuation, dependence; it is short, strong, but unstable. The other part is behavioral love: restraint, understanding, patience, and the choice to not harm the other person over the long term; it is weak, slow, but stable. Most people mistake love for the first type, but what truly determines the quality of a relationship is the second. Emotions fade, but behaviors accumulate into a person's "love ability."
