AIMPACT News, April 24 (UTC+8): Weeks before SpaceX announced a potential acquisition of hot AI coding startup Cursor for up to $60 billion, Cursor had sought billions of dollars in funding but was rejected by several large investment firms. Insiders revealed that the main reason for investors' hesitation was Cursor's deep reliance on Anthropic's AI models, which could make the cost of training and running the models extremely high. The reason SpaceX was able to offer a price far higher than other bidders was, on one hand, its urgent internal need for AI coding tools, and on the other hand, its considerable computing resources.
