ME News, April 24 (UTC+8): Republicans urged Trump to cancel the federal prosecutors’ investigation into the Federal Reserve’s renovation project, while Trump hinted that he might accept an alternative approach to the investigation. On Thursday, when asked whether people outside the Department of Justice could find the answers he wanted, Trump said, “Yes. I mean, you see, it’s easy.” Senators and Treasury Secretary Bessent proposed that Congress investigate the Federal Reserve to replace the investigation led by U.S. Attorney Piro, with the goal of getting North Carolina Republican Senator Tom Tillis to stop obstructing the nomination of Warsh as Fed chair. When asked another question, Trump said, “It must be determined what exactly went wrong.” “It used to be beautiful, and they tore it down—probably because the maintenance costs were too high.” Although Trump did not mention Fed Chair Powell’s involvement in the project, he still criticized him, saying, “He also did very poorly on interest rates.” (Source: Jin10)
