AIMPACT News, April 24 (UTC+8), the popular AI coding startup Cursor sought billions of dollars in funding weeks before SpaceX announced a potential acquisition worth up to $60 billion, but was rejected by several large investment firms. According to sources, the main reason for investors' hesitation was Cursor's deep reliance on Anthropic's AI models, which could make the cost of training and running the models extremely high. The reason SpaceX was able to offer a price far higher than other bidders is, on one hand, its urgent internal need for AI coding tools, and on the other hand, its substantial computing resources.
