Abstract generation in progress
AIMPACT News, April 24 (UTC+8), according to Beating monitoring, the open-source code editor Zed has launched the Parallel Agents feature, supporting the simultaneous operation of multiple AI agent threads within the same window. Each thread can independently select different agents and is compatible with third-party agents such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot CLI, and Gemini CLI via Zed's Agent Client Protocol (ACP). The new Threads Sidebar panel displays all threads grouped by project, allowing one-click start, stop, and archiving. Each thread supports independent worktree permission settings, enabling developers to decide which folders and repositories are visible to specific agents, and allowing a thread to read and write across repositories. Zed claims that under stress tests with hundreds of threads loaded, it still maintains 120fps smoothness. The feature has been released with the latest version and is fully open-source.
