Abstract generation in progress
AIMPACT news, April 24 (UTC+8), according to Dongcha Beating monitoring, Zhang Chi said in an interview that he uses Claude Code and GitHub Copilot's Agent mode daily. His students use Claude Code for training monitoring: automatically check GPU status, automatically debug and restart when errors are found, inspect every 30 minutes, "and we can go to sleep." When asked whether Chinese AI practitioners all use Claude Code, he first said "not all," and that he is more accustomed to using Copilot, but then confirmed that Chinese AI practitioners generally use US Agent tools. He bluntly said that Chinese models' coding Agent is "completely impractical," which is his personal experience rather than a systematic evaluation. ByteDance's overseas team can directly use Cursor, from which he speculated that ByteDance's future large models may be partially built with the help of US Agent tools. Zhang Chi also mentioned a personal dilemma: Claude Code is so good that he is considering "whether he still needs to train PhD students," but he worries that if he doesn't cultivate the next generation of researchers, there will be no one to do research in the future.
