Spotify Requests Kalshi and Polymarket to Remove Logo Following Chart Manipulation

On July 3, Bloomberg reported that Spotify has requested the prediction market platforms Kalshi and Polymarket to remove their logos and has clarified that there is no partnership between the two parties. This follows Spotify's discovery of manipulation in its song rankings through artificial streaming, with the results of these charts being used for the settlement of prediction market contracts. Spotify identified and removed over 500,000 abnormal plays, which had temporarily elevated Malcolm Todd's song "Earrings" to the top of the Spotify US charts. This data was subsequently used to settle a Kalshi prediction market on the "Most Played Songs on Spotify in the US for June," which had a total trading volume of approximately $3 million.
