Coin World News, the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) officially takes effect on July 1, 2026. The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) requires crypto service providers without a MiCA license to cease or restrict operations in the EU, and assist users in transferring assets or self-custody. In 2024, there were over 3,000 registered crypto companies in Europe, but currently only 244 hold a MiCA license; the remaining companies must cease operations.
