Kalshi fines three U.S. congressional candidates and bans them for 5 years.

ME News, April 23 (UTC+8), according to Kalshi, the prediction market platform Kalshi fined and banned three congressional candidates from the platform for 5 years for betting on their own election results. The candidates involved include Mark Moran, Matt Klein, and Ezekiel Enriquez. Virginia state Senate candidate Mark Moran was fined $6,229 and required to return profits from related market trades; Minnesota House candidate Matt Klein was fined $540; Texas Republican primary candidate Ezekiel Enriquez was fined $784. Mark Moran posted on X that he bet about $100 on Kalshi to draw attention to potential manipulation and corruption on the platform. Matt Klein posted on X that he bet out of curiosity, and after learning it violated the rules, he paid the fine and accepted the ban. Kalshi legal counsel Bobby DeNault stated that the candidates' actions violated internal trading control rules, and penalties will be imposed regardless of the amount traded. (Source: ODAILY)
