Base's Beryl upgrade goes live tomorrow, June 25 and this is what it means for us @base chads:

• Introducing B20, a native token standard built directly into Base nodes (instead of a smart contract)
• Gives developers ERC-20 compatibility and built-in tools for minting, burning, permissions, transfer controls, compliance requirements, freezing, and more
• Huge for stablecoins and RWAs that usually need a ton of custom contract logic to meet regulatory or operational requirements
• Token creation becomes cheaper and transfers are expected to be roughly 50% cheaper too
• Single-proof withdrawals from Base to Ethereum are shortened from 7 days to 5 days, freeing up capital faster
• Base is also upgrading Reth, improving throughput while reducing storage requirements for node operators
Basically, it's gonna be easier to launch tokens, cheaper to trade, and better aligned for devs.
