Renowned MEV bot Jaredfromsubway.eth suffers a reverse attack, losing over $7.5 million
A well-known MEV bot Jaredfromsubway.eth, actively operating on the Ethereum network for a long time, was exploited by hackers through an automated execution system vulnerability, resulting in losses of over $7.5 million.
Security firm Blockaid stated that this incident was not a traditional phishing attack or smart contract vulnerability, but a specialized "Anti-MEV Honeypot Attack" targeting the decision logic of MEV bots.
The attacker deployed 66 fake token contracts and false liquidity pools over several weeks, disguising them as assets like WETH, USDC, and USDT, to lure the bot into executing seemingly profitable trades and authorize auxiliary contracts controlled by the attacker.
Ultimately, the attacker invoked all backdoor permissions in a single transaction, transferring assets such as ETH, USDC, and USDT held by the bot's address.
Data shows that from November 2024 to October 2025, the Ethereum network experiences approximately 60k to 90k sandwich attacks per month, with about 70% related to Jaredfromsubway.eth. (Source: ODAILY)
