Former Ethereum Foundation contributor Trent Van Epps warns Ethereum could face a core development funding crisis within the next 3–9 months.

He estimates Ethereum’s core development ecosystem needs around $30M annually and says recent Ethereum Foundation spending cuts, combined with the expiration of the Client Incentive Program (CIP), could create a major funding gap.
According to him, new institutions and funding mechanisms will be needed, as the $ETH Foundation was never meant to be the network’s permanent steward.
