Speaking of $SPCX

Do you know that only about ~5% of the company’s shares are currently trading? The rest are locked up with a lock-up period.

The lock-up period is the period after the IPO during which major shareholders, employees, and early investors are prohibited from selling their shares.

So when do the locked shares start to come to market?
- After the second-quarter results (late July/August), 20% of the major shareholders’ shares are unlocked
- An additional 10% is unlocked early if the stock stays 30% above the IPO price for 5 days out of 10
- 7% batches on days 70, 90, 105, 120, and 13
- 28% after the third-quarter results
- The rest on December 8, 2026

Every time a tranche is unlocked, a new supply appears for the stock—with a small float and a high valuation—which often puts downward pressure on the price.

History suggests that shares from hype-driven IPOs tend to bleed when the lock-up is lifted ($META and $UBER and $RIVN , for example)
