The European Parliament approves legislation related to the US-Europe trade agreement.

Golden Finance reports that on June 16, the European Parliament’s plenary session, local time on June 16, in Strasbourg, France, finally adopted legislation related to the EU-U.S. trade agreement. According to procedures, the relevant legislative texts will then be submitted to the Council of the European Union for approval. Representatives of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union reached an agreement on May 20 regarding the legislative proposal related to the EU-U.S. trade agreement. They agreed to grant tariff preferential measures to U.S. products exported to the EU, while strengthening related safeguard mechanisms to protect the interests of the EU and its member states. U.S. President Trump previously threatened that if the EU fails to fulfill the agreement by July 4, tariffs on EU products exported to the U.S. will be significantly increased.
