Middle East situation update: The full text of the US-Iran agreement is about to be released, WTI crude oil once dropped 7%
BlockBeats News, June 17, various parties continue to send signals regarding the Iran-U.S. agreement, the Lebanon-Israel conflict, and the Strait of Hormuz situation. Trump stated that negotiations on the Iran-U.S. agreement have entered the second phase, and the agreement will clearly prohibit Iran from possessing nuclear weapons, with the full text to be published soon, possibly even read aloud verbatim.
On the Iranian side, the Central Headquarters of Iran's armed forces, Hatham Anbia, accused Israel of violating the Lebanon ceasefire agreement 84 times over the past two days and warned that continued violations will be met with military responses. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard emphasized that Hezbollah in Lebanon has demonstrated strong strength in recent conflicts and "will never be destroyed." Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi said that nuclear issues will be discussed in the final stage of negotiations, and ending the Lebanon war is a necessary condition for ending Iran's war. An advisor to the Iranian Foreign Ministry reiterated that missile programs and support for regional allies are non-negotiable.
On the U.S. side, according to Israeli media reports, some U.S. aerial refueling aircraft have begun to withdraw from Israel. Another report states that the U.S. is allowing Iran to immediately resume oil exports and secretly transport Gulf oil. Trump said the U.S. is not in a hurry to acquire Iranian nuclear materials but will destroy related nuclear materials at the appropriate time. U.S. Vice President Vance emphasized that no U.S. government funds will be provided to Iran.
Regarding Israel, the Israeli military claimed to have successfully intercepted rockets launched from Lebanon. Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that whether or not an agreement is reached, Iran will not obtain nuclear weapons. According to Israeli media reports, Israel had requested to see the content of the U.S.-Iran understanding memorandum but was refused.
On the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister said that the U.S. has lifted some sanctions on Iran. U.S. intelligence agencies believe Iran still has the capability to close the Strait of Hormuz again. Iran's Vice President stated that Tehran will continue to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz.
Regarding international crude oil, WTI crude once fell by 7%, and Brent crude fell below $80, marking the first time since early March.
On ceasefire negotiations, Saudi media disclosed the terms of the U.S.-Iran 14-point memorandum of understanding. The framework agreement between the U.S. and Iran plans to establish a private fund of $300 billion, which does not involve government funds. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister said that Speaker Kalibaf will attend the signing ceremony of the Iran-U.S. memorandum of understanding, and the next phase will discuss uranium enrichment, nuclear stockpiles, and Iran's nuclear needs.
Additionally, Hezbollah media liaison office in Lebanon revealed that Iran has promised that unless Israel withdraws from Lebanon, Iran will not sign a final nuclear agreement with the U.S. Kalibaf stated that Israel must withdraw from Lebanon. Trump believes that the Lebanon-Israel conflict is just a "small-scale war" and will not affect the progress of the Iran agreement.
