After a decade, Canada's Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) program is set to expand to include mental illness as a sole underlying condition. The extension, initially delayed three times by the previous Liberal government, is now scheduled for March 2027. This move aims to provide more options for terminally ill patients and those with grievous and irremediable mental suffering.
