CryptoWorld News reports that on June 15, Anthropic held an emergency working meeting in Washington with the U.S. Department of Commerce regarding the latest AI model export controls, but the talks ended without results, and Claude Fable 5 remains under a global ban. The U.S. government’s order of regulation is mainly driven by concerns over security—fearing that Fable 5’s security defenses could be bypassed through jailbreaking, releasing powerful cyberattack capabilities. The meeting was led by Anthropic co-founder Tom Brown, with officials from the Department of Commerce present to hear the discussion. Although the team reiterated that concerns about jailbreaking risks are being exaggerated, the Commerce Department officials were not convinced and demanded that Anthropic fully address the jailbreaking vulnerabilities. At present, both sides are discussing next-step solutions. U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick is expected to hold a direct face-to-face meeting with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei on site at the G7 summit. In support of Anthropic against the ban, more than 80 cybersecurity professionals jointly signed an open letter on June 14, arguing that the ban would weaken the United States’ leadership position in the field of AI.

Tom Brown personally speaks out on bans; this level of authority is impressive.

80 experts jointly endorse it, but it's useless; the Ministry of Commerce clearly doesn't buy into this.
