CryptoWorld News: Anthropic has sent an email to subscribers announcing a delay in the implementation of the originally scheduled developer quota reform for Claude, which was set to take effect today. Previously, Anthropic announced in May that starting June 15, Claude Agent SDK, the command-line tool claude -p, and third-party applications built on the Agent SDK would no longer share the rate limits of the web subscription, instead adopting a fixed monthly billing model (for example, Pro subscribers receive a $20 monthly quota, with overages billed via API). The notification letter from Anthropic states that the decision to postpone the implementation is to optimize the billing plan to better meet the needs of developers building applications with Claude subscriptions. During the policy delay period, all calls initiated through the development kit or command line will continue to follow the original web subscription rules, and developers do not need to apply for any quotas. Existing subscription limits remain unchanged, and Anthropic promises to notify users in advance before the new quota adjustment plan takes effect.

“20 bucks” fixed quota + overage API billing sounds overwhelming—fortunately, it was postponed.

The SDK continues to follow the web subscription rules, and during the transition period, users can still take advantage of the benefits.

Anthropic's delay operation this time shows that the previous plan indeed wasn't well thought out.
