Wu Shuo learned that Coinbase announced a partnership with AWS CloudFront and WAF, supporting website publishers and API providers to use the x402 payment protocol to bring AI agents in as paying customers—charging them for content or interface access. Coinbase said that about one quarter of the internet runs on AWS CloudFront and WAF. When an AI agent requests content, the server can return an HTTP 402 Payment Required response to inform the payment amount and payment method; after the agent completes the payment, the Coinbase x402 Facilitator verifies the payment and delivers the content.
