MediaTek is upgrading its AI business from just chip design to participating in the entire AI server system design.

In the future, it will not only produce ASIC chips but also get involved in server cabinets, power supplies, cooling, optical communications, and other integrated solutions, aiming to increase added value.
There are three key points:
1️⃣ The industry has become more complex.
AI data centers require system-level technologies like CPO and 800V power supply, and just making chips is no longer enough.
2️⃣ The ASIC boom may slow down.
In the next 2–3 years, ASIC growth might slow, so MediaTek is proactively transforming.
3️⃣ New opportunities lie in system integration.
MediaTek plans to use "design + integration" with a lightweight asset model (outsourcing manufacturing) to maintain high profit margins.
Two major customer opportunities:
- Google TPU: wants to enter the next-generation TPU system, but competition is fierce.
- Elon Musk-related AI chips: the ecosystem is still immature, which actually presents more opportunities to enter complete machine cabinet systems.
In summary, MediaTek is evolving from a chip maker to a company that designs entire AI server systems.
