Strategy Drops $100M on 1,587 Bitcoin as Reserve Climbs to 846,842 BTC
Strategy purchased 1,587 bitcoin for approximately $100 million at an average price of $63,024 per coin, the company disclosed Monday, pushing its total bitcoin reserve to 846,842 BTC.
Michael Saylor, Strategy‘s executive chairman, announced the acquisition on X at 8:02 a.m. ET on June 15, 2026. The post confirmed the company also expanded its USD Reserve by $100 million, bringing that balance to $1.1 billion.
The Numbers
The latest purchase breaks down as follows:
The $63,024 average entry price positions this acquisition below current spot levels, a dynamic that would represent unrealized gains at time of writing depending on prevailing market prices.
Dual Reserve Strategy
The move is notable not only for the bitcoin accumulation but for the simultaneous expansion of Strategy’s dollar reserve. The company raised its USD Reserve to $1.1 billion in the same announcement, a signal that executives are managing liquidity alongside bitcoin holdings rather than converting all cash to BTC.
Strategy has operated this dual-reserve approach for several years, using equity and debt issuances to fund bitcoin purchases while maintaining dollar liquidity for operational needs.
Institutional Accumulation Continues
Strategy remains the largest publicly traded corporate holder of bitcoin. At 846,842 BTC, the firm controls roughly 4% of bitcoin’s total fixed supply of 21 million coins.
The company’s purchases have come at regular intervals through 2025 and into 2026, establishing a pattern traders and analysts track closely as a proxy for institutional conviction.
Market Context
The $63,024 average acquisition price reflects conditions at the time of execution. Corporate buyers of this scale typically spread purchases over multiple days or weeks to minimize market impact, meaning the disclosed average represents a blended cost rather than a single transaction price.
Strategy’s latest 10-Q and SEC filings will provide further detail on the financing structure behind this round of purchases.
What It Means for Traders
Large corporate purchases at or below current spot price can signal a price floor in the eyes of some market participants. When a company with Strategy’s profile commits $100 million at a specific price level, traders often treat that entry point as a reference for near-term support.
Whether this acquisition moves price in the short term depends on broader market conditions, but the accumulation adds to the structural demand picture that Bitcoin bulls cite when projecting long-term price appreciation. Strategy’s shares trade on Nasdaq under the tickers MSTR and STRC.
