According to French media Le Parisien, a 32-year-old man has been charged with suspected involvement in a violent robbery targeting cryptocurrency holders. The incident occurred in March this year, when three suspects posing as police officers broke into a family’s home in Nancy, France, attempting to force the victim to hand over approximately 20k euros worth of cryptocurrency assets. Because the victim’s daughter reported the incident in time, the suspects were unable to succeed and fled the scene by car. The report states that the information used by the suspects to identify their target may have come from the French cryptocurrency tax reporting platform Waltio, which experienced a data breach in January this year.
