Meta CEO admits personnel adjustment mistakes in AI transformation and promises the company will not conduct a full-scale layoff again this year

According to Reuters on June 13, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged in an internal employee memo that the company made layoffs mistakes during the AI transformation adjustment, and reiterated that there will be no large-scale layoffs across the entire company by 2026.

Zuckerberg stated that, given the rapid development of AI and the complexity of changes, the company has made some mistakes, and may make more mistakes in the future during the transformation process;

But at this stage, Meta will focus on maintaining organizational stability, will not overcommit to the pace of transformation, and will arrange suitable new positions for employees transferred to other roles.

In May this year, Meta launched a large-scale organizational restructuring, completing about 8,000 layoffs worldwide, and reallocating 7,000 employees to a newly established AI department.

Additionally, to fully deploy in the artificial intelligence sector, the company has invested hundreds of billions of dollars in AI infrastructure construction, attempting to achieve a comprehensive transformation into the AI field through bold internal restructuring.

In summary, Zuckerberg’s proactive admission of fault not only reveals the real issues behind the structural adjustments but also reflects the internal pains faced by global tech giants in aggressive AI transformation, fully demonstrating the complexity and practical challenges inherent in industry change.
