🤯 The U.S. government has blocked access to Claude AI Fable 5 and Mythos 5!

➠ On June 9, Anthropic released Claude Fable 5 – the first public Mythos-class model with strict restrictions in sensitive areas (cybersecurity, biology, chemistry), and Claude Mythos 5 – the same model with some restrictions removed, available to a select group of trusted partners through Project Glasswing.

➠ Today – Anthropic received an export control directive from the U.S. government citing national security concerns. It prohibits access to both models for any foreign nationals, including Anthropic employees with foreign citizenship, both inside and outside the U.S.

➠ It is impossible to distinguish foreigners from other users in real time, so the company has disabled Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all clients worldwide.

➠ Anthropic called the situation a misunderstanding related to a possible jailbreak, and stated that they are working on quickly restoring access.

➠ Other Anthropic models, including Opus 4.8, are operating without changes.

❗️UPD: David Sacks posted claiming that his partner found a way to bypass Fable 5 restrictions (jailbreak) – and this is a serious problem.

The U.S. government’s hope is that Anthropic will fix everything quickly, so the export controls will be lifted and the models will become accessible again.
