My First Time Buying US Stocks, I Learned to "Wait"

June 8th, with the mindset of "bottom-fishing tech giants," I made my first US stock purchase:

· AAPL: Cost $312.66, Current Price $291.06
· NVDA: Cost $225.67, Current Price $205.12
· PURR: Cost $10.69, Current Price $8.70
Only 0.01 shares of each, with a total unrealized loss of less than 0.5 USDT.
Little money, but the experience feels very real.
US stocks and crypto are too different.
Previously trading contracts, when BTC drops a needle, it’s either liquidation or instant wealth, clear in minutes.
US stocks are different.
· They have a closing time: at 10:30 PM (DST), the market freezes. Want to stay up all night to "recover"? No can do, come back tomorrow.
· Weekend market closed: no trading on Saturday and Sunday. Want to watch the market after losing? No chance.
· Small but persistent volatility: a 2% drop in a day doesn’t seem much, but a week of continuous drops adds up to 10%. Dull knives cut slowly, every day a little pain.

My AAPL dropped from 312 to 291 in 6 days.
If it were crypto, those 6 days might have seen two full bull and bear cycles.

What I’ve learned

1️⃣ US stocks are not suitable for "short-term gambling"
0.01 shares earning 5% is just over 1 cent, not enough to cover fees.
US stocks are better suited for trend-following or dollar-cost averaging.

2️⃣ Bottom-fishing should be done in batches
Buying all at once at 312, only to watch it fall to 291—nothing you can do.
If split into 3 trades, the average price could be much lower.

3️⃣ "Hold on" doesn’t mean "play dead"
Not setting stop-losses or making plans after unrealized losses, just waiting for luck.

A few days ago, I posted about a contract liquidation, -98%, wiped out in seconds.
Today, I share unrealized loss in US stocks, -$0.20, still not recovered after a week.
