Deep Tide TechFlow News: On June 14, Israel’s Channel 12 cited multiple anonymous senior officials saying that a memorandum of understanding that Israel believes the U.S. and Iran are about to reach could jeopardize Israel’s security interests. These officials believe the U.S. has made concessions to Iran on key conditions; otherwise, Iran would not agree to sign the agreement.
In terms of specifics, Israel believes the current framework would allow Iran to discuss its nuclear program only after the conflict ends and conditions are met, including the unfreezing of frozen funds. Meanwhile, a previously proposed plan to export enriched uranium out of Iran has been adjusted to on-site dilution processing, and Iran’s missile program has not been included in the agreement framework. These changes are considered to weaken restrictions on Iran’s critical capabilities.
Israeli security officials and some experts therefore believe that the agreement still does not address their core security concerns, and instead may preserve some of Iran’s strategic capabilities.
